Jean O. Pasco, Director, Orange County Archives

Jean was hired in July 2006 to oversee the expansion of the Orange County Archives. She has a vast knowledge of Orange County government and history from her 25 years as a political reporter for the Orange County Register and the Los Angeles Times. Her goal is to acquire more physical space for the Archives, obtain additional collections, expand the Archives’ multimedia presence, encourage academic research and create public-private partnerships for the greater preservation and display of Orange County history.

Susan Berumen, Archivist

Susan Berumen joined the Archives in June 2008 from Kern County, where she was the Reference Librarian and Government Documents Coordinator. Susan brings impressive skills and experience to the job. Born and raised in Orange County, she received a bachelor’s degree in art/art history from UCI, a master’s degree in art from New York University and a master’s degree in Library and Information Sciences from San Jose State University. She also studied at the Art Students League, New York, and the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts, Paris. Susan is a member of the American Library Association, Art Libraries Society of North America and the Society of American Archivists. From 1998 to 2001, Susan was a professional fundraiser for the Orange County Performing Arts Center, and she has worked for the Orange County Public Library. As a bonus, she speaks Spanish and French.

Chris Jepsen, Assistant Archivist

A resident of Huntington Beach since 1973, Chris Jepsen first became interested in local history during high school, as a photographer for the City Historian. While completing his BA at CSUF, Chris was a docent at the Centennial Heritage Museum. Later, he created the first website on Googie architecture, organized historical driving tours, published articles, and helped the City of Anaheim document its endangered Mid-Century buildings. Chris has been with the Archives since 2003.
