Adolf Schoepe Papers


Orange County industrialist Adolf Schoepe (1904-2001) was the founder of both Kwikset Locks in Anaheim, and Fluidmaster, Inc. in San Juan Capistrano. This collection consists primarily of his personal papers from his many civic and political activities from 1947-1972. Among the organizations represented are: Anaheim Chamber of Commerce, Anaheim United Fund, Anaheim YMCA, Big Brothers of Orange County, California State Chamber of Commerce, Commonwealth Club of California, Junior Achievement, Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Mother Colony Hospital Association, North Orange Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Northern Orange County Manufacturers Group, Orange County Associated Chambers of Commerce, and Orange County Community Chest. The political material includes newsletters, clippings, and correspondence from a variety of local and national organizations, including: American Security Council, The John Birch Society, Republican Associates of Los Angeles County, and the Navy League of the United States. There is also correspondence and campaign material from various elected officials, including former U.S. Reps. Robert E. Badham (who served from 1977 to 1989) and James B. Utt (1953-70), and U.S. Sens. Clair Engle (1959-64) and Thomas Kuchel (1953-69).
